I have no idea why this place has 4.5 stars. Last time I went, it wasn't that great at all. We first waited twenty minutes (not bad) to sit down outside (netted, but still). After seeing the prices on the menu, I expected a bit more than dingy tablecloths, a wobbly table, and best of all, plastic solo cups. The steak was ok at best yet everything was covered with parsley. The place is the hillbilly fancy type of place you might expect in other words.

Don't let the appearance scare you away; we almost kept driving despite the good reviews. Good thing we stopped. Steak and fish were very good! Shrimp appetizer for $2.99 was a great deal! Only food drawback was the baked potatoes, fair, tasting like they came out if tin foil, would definitely suggest they work on that. Make sure to try our buy their habanero hot sauce, excellent! Well worth a trip.

If you're looking for a fine dining restaurant, don't bother. This is a hole in the wall shabby place with plastic cups and cheap silverware. But... If you're looking for good food, come on in. The garlic bites here are amazing!! I had the escargot garlic bites and it was absolutely delicious. It's a heart attack on a plate with the melted butter so if you're on a diet, try the boogie Bob bites. My friends had the sirloin steak and the trio with shrimp and steak. Both raved about how tender and juicy the meat was. Even the free bread was nicely buttered. Staff was friendly and helpful. Norby, the owner, actually waits and serves at the restaurant which is very humbling. I wouldn't purposely drive to find this place but if you're passing through town, definitely give it a shot.

This restaurant has great specials, especially through facebook. My husband and I went tonight for a midweek date night. The building leaves a lot to be desired, as does the inside. We didn't have to wait too long to be seated. The employees were friendly. After being seated, we waited a good while for our food. Our waiter kept apologizing for our wait. When the food came, the shrimp skewer was superb! The steak was good, but it was under cooked. The potato didn't taste good at all, maybe it was the butter. The green beans were just ok. They do have very good thousand island, but we laughed at the plate of grated lettuce and two black olives they passed of as a salad. Worth a visit. We did, but will probably not go back. No wow factor for all that we read about this place. Do not go in a hurry.

Salad consist of only lettuce, onion, 2 olives and 1 tomato ... ( :( ) however, the main course makes up for it. Steak was excellent. This was our 3rd visit and every time the steak has been fantastic. very Casual restaurant - but a Must Try Nothing fancy, drinks are in solo cups. Norby actually greeted, seated us and "thanked" us for coming as we left! Great Hospitality - much better than MANNY's up the road which is HORRIBLE and rude service

Doh!! Passed it Again: This is one of the places I wanted to eat at for a while. But every time I was in town, I would pass it by. Not because I didn't want to go there, but I didn't notice it until I passed it so I always deferred the experience till later. Other times, they were already closed when I got into town. Norby's Steak and Seafood, is one of those places you have to actively look for if you're unfamiliar with the area, but it's well worth the effort. Their parking lot is often full, mostly from the regular, local, residents. One inside, it's very cozy but not crowded as the tables are arranged quite strategically to provide some intimacy if needed. I had their biggest Steak with all the trimmings. It was cooked just right, a must for this particular art of food prep and the price was quite fair for my order. The only demerit, is the slight stickiness of my table. Not dirty mind you, but perhaps the cleaning rag could stand an extra rinse.

Randomly stopped at this place on a drive from Tampa to South Florida. Smack in the middle of the state one might not expect to find a great steakhouse. However, this place not only had great food but had the most amazing kid friendly meals of any restaurant in the entire country. My girls both ordered the kids steak meal. For $6.99 they got a large fresh piece of steak cooked perfectly, a baked potato a bowl of corn and along with it came a package of Teddy Grahams, applesauce and a jello. After they stuffed themselves silly they got the next course: ice cream and a lollipop. And then, before leaving, the waitress came with a coloring book for each of them. Chuck e cheese step aside...Norby's has you beat by a mile. We were also impressed that Wayne (aka Norby) personally stopped by to check on us. Wow.

A decent spot for a decent steak. It has a unique vibe to it that is quaint and pleasant. Although a couple of the patrons gave me a "Deliverance" vibe. But who wouldn't want to be chased by rednecks on a romantic weekend with their girlfriend?! I think it would make our relationship stronger, what with all the "squeal piggy" and the chance of seeing Burt Reynolds in a really sexy leather vest. Wait, was that in "Gator"? Anyways...I digress. The salad that came with the meal definitely wasn't anything to write home about ( I actually own a home, because I am living the American Dream babay!), but the filet mignon, shrimp, and lobster tail I ordered were decent. When I say decent, I definitely have seen better, but this was a decent cut and cooked okay (rare, so I can feel the soul of the cow entering my maw). The lobster tail, I have to admit, wasn't the best I have had, but I am from New England, so I have had some of the best seafood in the world at small joints. You see, in New England, we are better at everything, because we are direct descendents of Redcoat killing rabble and our towns are littered with the bones of the English. The plastic chairs were a little unsettling for a place you will likely spend over $25 on a dinner, and I think some decent wood chairs would be better. Again, it may be part of the intended ambiance, or there might have been a huge clearance sale on plastic chairs at the Super Wal-Mart a few years ago. But that is just me nit picking. Overall, very decent.

Always a welcoming, laid back environment with plenty of choices. Enjoy a juicy, pink prime rib seasoned to perfection or a steak hearty enough to feed a southern gent. On the Italian side, the stuffed shells are amazing with an overload of cheese and spices and more than enough for two. Don't forget about dessert, a molten lava cake with decadent chocolate oozing from the center- ask for two spoons! Wayne and his team have made this a place to enjoy a fantastic steak dinner that won't break the budget! They have accommodations for any occasion with a relaxed atmosphere that will bring you back, time and time again.

Good food! I would recommend the garlic bites appetizer - very yummy!! The salads are pretty basic. The steaks are good. Husband said seafood is amazing! You get a huge portion for a decent price! I cannot eat a whole plate. Server was very attentive. She and the manager did a few check-backs to make sure everything was to our liking. A few downfalls - steak on garlic bites this time around was unevenly cooked. Ordered MR, but some pieces came out Well Done. Salad is very basic - would like to see maybe some shredded carrots or cheese to give it more of a variety. If you order a soda, you'll get a can and a cup of ice. Cups and appetizer plates are disposable. Overall, the place is great and we will come back again!

Love love love!! The food is seriously delicious and they are very kid friendly. Kids get a plate with jello, apple sauce, and graham crackers upon setting down along with a 10 page coloring book and ice cream for dessert. They have wine and sangria by the pitcher, and a filet mignon with lobster tail and three sides with salad is 24.99! Everything tastes fresh and delicious. Do not skip this place, it is a hidden gem! Tonight we were seated by the owner who established this place 23 years ago!!

Definitely worth a visit! Don't let the odd, industrial-looking location around it fool you. Really interesting place. Staff and owner were all very friendly and told us some of the history of the place ... and as chopped up and add-on after add-on that are evident, the history is interesting. If you're looking for opulent, this probably isn't your place (and doubtful you'll find many options in Lake Wales); however, once inside if you're a fan of hitting the local, independent "dives" (using that term endearingly) when traveling, this place will not disappoint. PVC plastic chairs and plastic drinking cups did not detract from the very good food. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was decent by normal standards, but at under $3 it was fabulous. We also had a bone-in NY Strip and a T-bone. Both had great flavor and were really decent cuts of beef. The broiled shrimp were cooked just right. As others have mentioned, the salads are just OK (lettuce, tomato, onion only), but the blue cheese dressing was really good as was the garlic bread served with the salads. The sides are pretty limited, but half the time I don't eat them anyway, so it didn't bother me much. Definitely give them a try.

very good food (I had the Imperial) for a very good price! i would recommend and I will be back. My dinner was a 4 oz filet, lobster tail and 3 nice sized shrimp with a salad, baked potato and green beans for $25! That is a good deal! The garlic bread is yummy and the green beans were the best I have ever had. The chix parm dinner was nice too. Atmosphere is pretty cool....the owner on site and very nice. Again, this place is very well priced! Good food.

Norby's is a Lake Wales unique experience. Evolved years ago from a local tavern to an indoor/outdoor eating experience. Decent steaks and pricing can be expected. Garlic muscles are a treat. Allow time for the entree as it can take time to get your meat cooked just right on the outdoor grill and to the table. Being sure to order an appetiser and enjoy the social one of a kind experience can be a plus. If you are a traveler taking in these type eating experiences it is a must.

This is my favorite place in Lake Wales! Probably the best steak you're going to get in town and the salmon is always moist and flavorful. Don't let the rough exterior scare you away, Norby's is great!

I thought because of these great reviews this would be a great place to meet my in-laws for dinner. Well, I thought wrong. The service was pretty bad, it took at least 20 minutes just to put our order in and I was ready to order within 3 minutes after being seated since it was gettign late and I have an 18 month old. Once we finally got our sausage cheese bread, it was the saltiest thing I've ever tasted! The rib eye steak was sub par and the salad was measely. Nothing about this place stood out. Please save yoru $$ and go somewhere else.

If you're looking for a diamond in the rough, then you're only going to find rough here. Small, Loud, and Nothing Special. Steak cuts aren't as good as your local market, and the seasoning isn't anything to write home about. Friendly, but not small town, Southern friendly.

Really not very good or especially clean. Maybe twenty years ago this was the best place to get a steak in an under-served small town, but there are better options now.
